Math- 7th Grade

This month in Math, students are exploring ratios, proportions, and proportional relationships. 📊 They’re learning how to calculate, graph, and write equations from these relationships. Understanding proportions and unit rates helps students make sense of real-world situations—from cooking and shopping to comparing speeds and prices—building skills they’ll use every day!

Math- 8th Grade

📈 Lines, Lines, and More Lines! This November and December, our math students are diving into all things lines! They’ll be exploring how to calculate the slope of a line, write and solve linear equations, and even find the equations of two different lines. It’s going to be a great way to strengthen their algebra skills and build a strong foundation for future math concepts!

7th Grade ELA

In ELA this month, students are exploring the beauty of poetry and figurative language as they strengthen their reading and writing skills. 📚 This creative work will set the stage for our next unit on argumentative essays and a class reading of George Orwell’s Animal Farm.

8th Grade ELA

In ELA this month, students are diving into Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream 🎭 to explore the humor, drama, and timeless theme of the impact of love. They’re discovering how Shakespeare’s words still connect to life and relationships today.

Social Studies- 7th Grade

Your seventh grader is stepping into the sandals of ancient Rome this quarter, exploring the geography, government, culture, and mythology that shaped one of history's most influential civilizations—and discovering how it still impacts us today. From the strategic advantages of Rome's location to the drama of its political systems and the gods that inspired its people, students are uncovering what made Rome tick. In December, we'll conclude by examining Rome's groundbreaking achievements in science, mathematics, and technology, plus the fascinating legacy of Julius Caesar. You'll notice your student making connections everywhere—from our legal systems to architecture to the calendar we use today, ancient Rome's fingerprints are all over our modern world. Ask them what their favorite Roman discovery has been!

Social Studies- 8th Grade

Your eighth grader is diving into the American Revolution this quarter—exploring the tensions that sparked a nation, from Britain's controversial taxes on the colonies to the bold Declaration of Independence that changed everything. To truly understand the founders' revolutionary thinking, students are getting creative by declaring their own independence from something meaningful and writing their own declarations, bringing history to life in a personal way. We'll trace the path from rebellion to nation-building, and in November, shift focus to how our founders crafted the Constitution and its Amendments—the blueprint that still guides our country today. By connecting these pivotal moments to their own lives, your student will gain deeper insight into why this era matters and how it shaped the America we know. Ask them what they've declared independence from—their answers might surprise you!

Science- 7th Grade

Chemists explore what substances are made of and where they come from. In this unit, students step into the role of student chemists 🧪 to solve intriguing mysteries that require an understanding of key chemical principles.

By taking on this role, students learn chemistry through a real-world lens—seeing how chemical knowledge can help answer important questions and solve everyday problems. The combination of a realistic role and a compelling mystery makes the learning experience both meaningful and engaging.

Science- 8th Grade

For the month of November, the 8th grade science students will be studying various forces that shape the Earth. We are starting with Weathering, Erosion and Deposition and tying these into topographic features such as Glaciers and Streams.  We will learn how weather and how all of these factors affect the way the Earth is shaped and structured.
