Office News

If your child is going to be absent, please call the school to inform the office, leave a voicemail, or email Miss Heather at dillonhl@scsdoh.org.  We ask that you send a note in with them upon their return to school so we can excuse the absence.

If you need to pick your child up early or need to get a dismissal message to your child, please call before 2:15 PM.  The office & phone lines tend to get very busy at the end of the day, so this will help alleviate any confusion & allow for completion of your request.

No children will be called to the office for dismissal after 2:45 PM due to dismissal already starting for some classes.

Students will not be released to anyone not on their pick up list, please stop in the office to add or change people on your list.

Please be sure to update the office or Final Forms with any changes to address, phone numbers, emergency information, etc.

Thank you so much for your help in keeping our records all up to date

~Miss Heather, Secretary~

Upcoming Dates:

November 14 Picture Retake Day

Clinic News

With the change of seasons comes increased allergy symptoms as well as increasing illnesses. Please talk with your students about good hand washing, keeping objects such as pens out of their mouths, as well as keeping handouts of their mouths.  Flu vaccines are available from your family doctor or local pharmacies (Kroger, CVS, Walgreens). Now is a great time to get vaccinated before the flu season is fully upon us!

All students must be free of vomiting, diarrhea, and fever for 24 hours, without the use of medication, before returning to school.  If you have questions, please call me at 505-4248.

Attendance Rewards

Our school has set a goal to achieve a 94% attendance rate for our students! At this time, we have a 93.39% attendance rate and would love your help in reaching our goal! As we all know, attendance is a very important component to student academic success. We do understand that illnesses, appointments, and unforeseen circumstances do happen that are out of your control, and we just ask that you communicate that to the front office so we can best help you! We are recognizing the students that have perfect attendance with a special reward each month, and would love to see as many kids earn it as possible! We are currently rewarding all students monthly who have 100% perfect attendance!   Each student that is here every day & on time will be rewarded from our attendance officer & announced in our monthly newsletter!

“On Time” means inside the Lagonda doors by 8:31 AM

This also includes any early exits before 3:00 PM

Please do not send your child to school before 7:55 AM, we do not have staff members outside to monitor them until 8:00 AM.

Breakfast doors open at 8:00 AM and class starts at 8:30 AM.

We appreciate your help with this!

October Perfect Attendance Reward was Candy Buffet Party!

November Perfect Attendance Reward will be a Cookie Decorating Party!

Here are some tips for you to help us reach our goal:

 1. Keep in mind that every minute missed from school will go toward their overall attendance and eventually result in Ms. Newsome, the truancy officer’s, involvement, once your child has reached the legal limit of time missed.

 2. Have your child to school every day and; on time, this includes them not leaving early. (School doors open at 8:00 AM, school starts at 8:30 AM, and school ends at 3:00 PM)

 3. Try to make appointments for before or after school if possible, and only take them out of school long enough for the appointment and return them to school.

 4. Try to encourage your child to come to school, even when they do not “want” to, and remind them of the importance of education and the perfect attendance incentive that they could earn!

 5. Call Miss Heather or Miss Stephanie in the front office for any issues that you may be having with attendance, as we would love to help you in any way that we can!

 Thank you for your support!

Safety Patrol

Lagonda Elementary School is excited to bring 5th and 6th grade students together for a peer-to-peer leadership opportunity through the National AAA Safety Patrol Program! Members of the Safety Patrol work with a staff advisor to help keep their classmates safe and model traffic safety during afternoon dismissal. Members of the Safety Patrol also created safe walking paths for the kindergarten and first grade students to participate in a Halloween parade to Springfield Manor Nursing and Independent Living. The new Safety Patrol team is looking forward to providing a safe environment for our staff, students, and families this school year!

Student Lighthouse Team

To help make October a little more festive, the Student Lighthouse Team created Lagonda’s very own pumpkin patch! Thanks to the generous support of Pendleton Farms and the PTA, the Student Lighthouse Team was able to fill the Courtyard with 400 pumpkins. Every student got to walk through the pumpkin patch and choose their very own pumpkin this year!

PBIS News

This month, all Lagonda students have started earning PBIS points.  These points are given when a staff member catches a student showing respect, responsibility, self-control, or safety.  Each student has a goal of earning at least 10 PBIS points every day.  When a student earns 10 PBIS points at least 4 out of the 5 weekdays, they get to celebrate with a Fun Friday event in their classroom.  Students are also using their earned PBIS points in the Wildcat Store to purchase stickers, candy, playdough, and other fun items.
