Snyder Park Elementary
Snyder Park will empower staff, students, and families to engage in the growth and development of students as future leaders.
Snyder Park strives to be goal oriented, empowered, and successful leaders.
#1: Snyder Park will accelerate student achievement by increasing the percentage of students demonstrating at least one year's growth in reading and math by at least 10%, through consistent, high-quality Tier One instruction in every classroom as measured through district assessments.
#2: Snyder Park will empower students by providing opportunities for at least four student-led events throughout the year, creating meaningful chances for every grade level to participate and thrive.
#3: Snyder Park will increase the student average annual attendance rate from 90.5% to at least 93% through consistent implementation of Tier One attendance supports by the final student day of the 2025-2026 academic year.

We are off to a good start with our first few weeks of school. Attendance Matters in the SCSD! Even one day out of school can significantly impact your student's academic performance. Your child's attendance is crucial to their success- when your student shows up they make a difference! This year our mission statement is: Snyder Park will empower staff, students, and families to engage in the growth and development of students as future leaders. When your student is here and on time each day they help us achieve our school mission! This year we are focusing on a more targeted instruction so that our students are able to achieve even more academic growth. This is a team effort between school and home. We are counting on everyone to do their part.

The Health Center at Springfield High just celebrated 1 Year! It is located on the lower level of the High School with the main entrance behind the football stands. The Health Center provides sick office visits, routine health screenings, updated vaccines, and counseling services. Any Springfield City School District student with guardian consent can be seen and will be given priority. This facility is also a service for family members and SCSD staff. Appointments can be made by calling 937-717-2578. If a student is ill while at school they will need their school nurse to help decide if a sick appointment is needed and if so the nurse will help the family make arrangements. All major insurances accepted. Discounted services are available for those who qualify. Please click here for more information.
We are celebrating Snyder Park's "New Chapter." With a heavy focus on attendance, we have incorporated scooter rides during the school day. On most Friday's, students with perfect attendance have the opportunity for a spin in the hallways. It has been very encouraging and we are noticing students doing their best to attend school everyday. In addition to scooter rides, the grade level with the highest attendance percentage will get a trophy for that week, and there will be periodic giveaways for those students with perfect attendance.
Our grade level Attendance Winner for last week was 2nd grade with 96%! Excellent job 2nd grade!
Snyder Park students who show exemplary leadership qualities can be chosen by their teachers as the Leader of the Month. Leaders of the month will get their picture taken and posted within the school, a certificate, and their families are invited to a celebratory breakfast of light refreshments here at Snyder Park. Please check this section starting in October for our Leaders of the Month.
To get involved in your child's learning, you can start by communicating regularly with their teachers, participating in school events and organizations like a parent club, and create a supportive home environment by setting routines, reading together, and encouraging their interests. You can foster their development by showing interest in their schoolwork, engaging in educational activities like gardening, cooking, encouraging independent exploration, praising their efforts, and encouraging healthy habits like sleep, exercise, and nutrition.
On Wednesday, September 10th, our Fifth grade students went to Glen Helen.
Please see below for community resources and events in September. If you are looking for something fun to do this fall, click here for the National Trails Parks and Recreation Fall Activity Guide.
In September, we are focusing on Habit 1: Be Proactive. Be Proactive means to take responsibility for your choices and behaviors. Habit 1 is the key to all of the other habits; that's why it comes first. Be Proactive says, "I am in charge of my own life. I am responsible for whether I am happy or sad. I can choose how I react to other people or situations. I am in the driver's seat."
Most of us react to a situation immediately, without taking time to think about the results of our actions. Part of Be Proactive is being able to stop and think before we act. With your child, do some role-playing to practice the skill of stopping and thinking in different situations. Your goal in these role plays is to encourage your child to stop and think before reacting. Use the following ideas to get started, and then think of some that can be immediately applicable to your child's life.
(In this role play, you should play the part of your child's friend). Say that you have a new best friend who lives close to your house and you don't want to play with him or her anymore. Apologize and then wait for your child's reaction.
(In this role play, you should be your child's sibling). Tell your child that you broke his or her favorite toy by accident. Tell him or her that you don't think it is a very big deal because he or she has many toys.
